Ubuntu: Live and let Live.

Why were we created? What’s our purpose in this life? When Almighty God set us on this earth did He know that we would cause mischief and destroy this lovely planet? Is it human nature to sin, to oppress, to marginalize and kill others? What goes on through the mind of someone while he is taking another’s life? Does it ever come to a point where the killer wishes he could revive whoever he killed? How does one feel when he walks past the house of someone they killed and they see how his widow and kids are suffering?

There has been a bunch of disturbing clips on social media about the on-going xenophobia attacks in South Africa. Human life is devastatingly fragile and in the blink of an eye you are no more. I have caught myself several times thinking about the victims of the mentioned attacks; what is the last thing that goes through their minds before they pass on?

Is it the question why? Why are they doing this to me? Do i deserve it?

God, why is this happening to me? Will i go to heaven?

What will happen to my family after this? will they suffer the same fate?

Kill me, fellow Africans, kill me. Just know that i will meet our creator one day and i will tell him about this!

Is there a point that the victim comes to and embraces his fate? Says a prayer asking God to forgive his killers?

Again, i beg to ask a question; Why do most of this things mostly happen in Africa? Is it maybe because we take human life for granted? Are we so frustrated by our condition, poor as we may be, that we feel taking human life is the only solution?

What should we do now that Africans are turning on their fellow Africans and killing them like roaches and rats? Should we give up and say that humanity is a lost cause?

An eye for an eye maybe? Kill anyone who played a part in another’s death? This way, will the blood shed ever stop?

Should we forgive and forget and still manage to share the same table, train ride, escalator with those who are baying for our blood?

What is the best way to stop these kind of attacks?

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things). [Qur’an 49:13]

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“The planet is fine. The people are fucked.”
George Carlin

“Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.”

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
